How To Prevent Acne

It is more beneficial to opt for prevention when suffering from a particular disease. The money and time spent in treating a medical condition could have been avoided if some precautionary measures were taken. Acne is an example of such ailments that can be prevented by following some precautionary measures. When acne
appears on your skin, getting rid of it can be a nightmare. Therefore, preventing acne is a better option. There are several ways of preventing acne. This article highlights simple tips on how to prevent acne that you may want to consider.

How to prevent acne?

1.Cleanse and moisturize the skin

The major cause of acne is accumulation of oil and dirt in the skin pores as well as dead skin. To avoid that, properly clean the skin daily and scrub it once every week to eliminate excess dead skin. If you have a sensitive or oily skin, use mild herbal cleansers, such a neem soap, rather than ones containing strong chemicals. Keep your skin well moisturized and hydrated at all times as dry skin may sometimes aggravate acne.

2.Salicylic acid

To get rid of dead cells on the skin, apply salicylic acid solution on your skin. Dead cells tend to clog skin pores, thereby causing an acne breakout. Therefore, one of the best ways to prevent acne is to treat your skin with a 2% salicylic acid solution after cleansing.

3.Drink plenty of water

People who drink inadequate water are exposing themselves to the risks of acne. Adequate water consumption helps eliminate toxins, the major causes of acne breakouts. Moreover, it keeps your skin moisturized and promotes detoxification. Therefore, if you want to prevent acne naturally and keep the skin healthy and soft, drink at least 6-8 glasses of water every day.

4.Choose good skin care products

Another factor that holds the key to acne prevention is using good skin care products. Oil based skin care products can block skin pores, thereby leading to acne. Therefore, avoid oil-based creams to keep the skin acne free. Doctors usually recommend non comedogenic skin care products, which will not block the skin pores and trigger acne breakouts.

5.Follow a healthy diet

Diet plays an integral role in preventing acne. There are some foodstuffs that tend to cause acne flare ups such as processed, fatty and junk foods. To be on the safe side as far as acne prevention is concerned, include fresh vegetables and fruits in your daily diet and cook in olive oil. Other nutrient foods that can help to keep the skin young and healthy include watermelon, blueberries, raspberries, green tea, whole wheat bread and walnuts.

6.Exercise

Developing an exercise regimen and sticking to it is another great way of preventing acne. When working out, the body releases chemicals that help in controlling stress. Moreover, intense exercises increase the flow of blood to the skin, giving the skin cells more oxygen. This also contributes to acne prevention. Remember to have a bath immediately after any exercise routine to get rid of sweat, which tends to block the skin pores.
